Witnessing The Fall at Atatürk Arboretum
Summer has left us behind, fall is in the air. Fall is always my favorite season. When all the leaves change their color and reveal the true scenery. It represents the beauty of loss and regeneration. With the cooler temperature, this season always give me warmth and sense of comfort. It is the time to reflect and bring back the memories. To think over the past year, what I have been through, and about the life progress I have made. Unlike summer, I often feel the sadness come along with the fall. But I always love the fall. There is always something beautiful that I could not describe by words about this season. Besides, this season is also perfect time to take beautiful scenic photos while spending the times outdoor.
Last year, I made my way to Yedigoler in Bolu to witness the beauty of fall could offer. It took three hours journey from Istanbul. It was quite exhausted, particularly if you want to return to Istanbul in the same day. However, if you do not want to travel that far, the Atatürk Arboretum could be an option for witnessing the fall. Despite its distant location from the city center, the public bus is available to take passengers to enjoy one of the outdoor attractions in Istanbul.
Located in the southeast of the Belgrad Forests in Sariyer district, the Ataturk Arboretum is home to more than one thousand plant species. It was established in in 1949 to serve as living laboratory that allows scientists, nature lovers, and landscape architects to conduct the studies. Besides, the park is also opened to public who has interests in botany or simply wants to get away from the bustle of Istanbul. School children often come to this park to learn abut the plant diversity, or just simply to take a walk and play with their peers. Still during the fall season, this place also becomes on of favorite spots for the pre wedding photo shoots. So, you’re kindly invited to enjoy the beauty of fall at Atatürk Arboretum through my snaps below.

Essence of autumn so beautifully captured, Nurul. What a fantastic arboretum. And how enlightened to create such a living laboratory.

Thank you Tish. I also think that’s a fantastic idea. Creating a laboratory for studies and a place to relax at the same time.

From all the leaves on the ground I assume that these marvellous photos have been taken in the late fall. A great visual tour of the Atatürk Arboretum!

Lovely pictures and place. We also have an arboretum here in Jaipur. I have written about it two years ago. Fall is amazing. We don’t have that privilege to witness fall here in Jaipur

Thank you, Arv. I remember I read about your Arboretum post long while a go. I do love fall and am lucky to have it in Istanbul. But, back home, I don’t have that privilege either. Our tropical country just provide us two seasons only.

Nurul, we do have four or five seasons but here leaves of many tree species shed before the start of summer. Also the kind of trees that change colour are also missing.

Sometimes, we can not have everything all at once… In term of season, India is richer compared to my home country, Indonesia, where we just have two seasons all the year

I agree. We also have certain areas where fall season can be experienced like Kashmir. 🙂

I’ve never been to a place at the end of fall where the leaves turns yellow and red — the closest to that was my trip to Japan in early October two years ago, but most of the trees were still covered in lush green foliage. Beautiful photos!

Thank you, Bama. Late autumn, started from end of October till the end of November, offers the best scene for photography. But still, it depends on the country too. Some could have earlier winter too. Hopefully you can catch it for your next trips..
