Surprised By The Tulips
I didn’t write frequently in the last few months due to many things happened going on in my life. It was began by beginning semester loading me with abundant new tasks and assignments, bad news from home and uncertain love stories made me feel blue and down for almost the whole winter time. It seems winter time was full of sad stories to tell. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate winter at all. I love the beauty of season, especially when the snows fell down, cover everything on the ground with its magnificent white color. Everything was frozen and beautiful, such as shown in the frozen movie. The sadness things just came by chance, and had nothing to do with the winter.
Spring is finally coming. Couple of days ago, Umarah, my class mate from South Africa gave me a call, asked whether I could join her and Ahmet to Emirgan Park. I was not really in mood for going, but I thought that would be a good chance and reason to leave my tinny room, getting the fresh air, forget all my problems for a while, and if we’re lucky, we could see some tulips as well. So, I said Yes and we met up somewhere to go together to Emirgan Park.
Istanbul has many parks in every corner of the city. But the park where we were unto is the biggest one, and it’s also located by the sea where we could the Bosphorus from its peak. Even though that’s a bit far from city center, it’s worth it t make visit once a while to the park.
Yes, we were lucky. Once we entered the park, I could see some cherry blossoms with its white wonderful colors, the sign that the spring was really there. There was no entry fee to enter the park, however, if you come with the car, there’s additional fee so you can bring your car entering into the park.

Cherry Blossom, Spring is really in the air.
We were surprised by the tulips. Even though the tulips festival was not opened yet, but most of tulips started blossoming. They are wonderful, with so many different colors. Many grooms and brides were there too, let their photos taken by their photographer, surely they’re making pre wedding photos. Jogging tracks are also available if you want to do some sport activities. For children, there were some play ground where kids could do some climbing or jumping on trampoline. Or, if visitors just want to sit and relax, some benches are also available. It seems that my failure to see tulips during my trips in the Netherlands had been paid back.

It’s okay to be different. You’re not weird, you’re just special. Just be yourself since anyone else is taken.

That was lovely to spend the whole afternoon in the park. And I must said that I was glad that Umarah asked me out, otherwise I would spend my whole day with sitting in my room and feeling sorry about myself. This season helped me to see anything from the other side, or exactly, from the bright side. Well, bad news from home, I just need to accept it, and nothing I could do to make it not happened. All tasks and assignments that really stress me out? Hello, these are that I always wanted to have, right? Uncertain love stories? Seeing this beautiful day, I believe it will end with happily ever after. Even if it doesn’t work as I expect to be, that will be fine at the end of the day. I just need to spread more love, and love absolutely will find me, at the right time and the right place.
Absolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing.

Oh my gosh Nurul, those tulips are INCREDIBLE! Who knew Istanbul was home to such glorious flowers. Good for you for getting out – a sunny day and gorgeous colors goes a long way to helping one over a hump. Here’s hoping your troubles disappear as quickly as, sadly, the flowers will.

Thank you, Tina. I read somewhere, apparently Tulips were cultivated in Turkey before brought to the Netherlands.. Sunny day really made my day 😃
